Gary N. Miller is a respected Sisters, Oregon based photographer with a wide range of photographic talents. Gary’s photo bag is rich in photography of people, life, events, forest fires, rodeos, landscapes and wonderfully artistic images. A regular contributor to many Central Oregon publications Gary’s work has also been featured in numerous regional, national and international publications and websites. He has had images used by National Geographic on two occasions, won various contest awards and played a role as the primary photography judge for the Jefferson County Fair for 4 years.
Gary is also an IT Professional and Database Developer. All of these professions reward technical mastery, a love of symmetry, patterns, balancing acts and the unusual as well as demanding an eye and appreciation for details often missed many a casual observer.
After spending his early years in locations ranging from the East Coast, Southeast Asia, Marianas, Mexico and Colorado Gary has made Central Oregon his home since 1989. A past Ski School and Race Director at Hoodoo Ski Area Gary started a computer consulting business in the mid-90's and then became enamored with the world of photography once digital cameras came of age.
" Photography has taught me to see the world with a focus and depth I had never quite experienced before. It has taught me that as closely I think I am looking there is always more to be seen. There is a magic to capturing a slice of time and light that will never quite repeat itself in the same way ever again."
Life, learning and honing skills, family, sailing, skiing, listening to and playing acoustic music, golf, exploring cultures, thinking globally.
